Advanced Insulation nominated for two 2015 Cotswold Life EMI Awards

Gloucestershire-based Advanced Insulation – a leading manufacturer of passive fire protection and insulation systems for the upstream oil and gas industry – has been shortlisted for the Smart Product Award and Technology Innovation of the Year Award categories for the 2015 Cotswold Life Engineering Manufacturing Innovation Awards.

The company’s nomination for both awards follows the launch of its innovative ContraFlame^® MS400 system, a lightweight cellar-deck insulation and protection material for the offshore oil and gas industry, which offers integral thermal insulation and hydrocarbon fire protection to H120. MS400can also be modified to meet specific project requirements such as bespoke thermal insulation to meet U-value requirements.

Categories are open to all large or small businesses based in Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Wiltshire. The Cotswolds have long been associated with a history of manufacturing and continue to be an area that flourishes with such industries as renewable energy to pharmaceuticals, automotive, aerospace and many more. The Smart Product Award celebrates manufacturing or engineering companies that have successfully designed and delivered a new product to market within the last three years. The Technology Innovation of the Year Award recognises outstanding success in commercializing new technologies. Within both categories the product must have also driven innovation within in its sector.

Advanced Insulation Wins Prestigious EEF National Smart Product Award for Cost Saving Insulation Panel System

Presented at a gala reception held in London on Wednesday 15th April, Gloucester-based Advanced Insulation – a leading manufacturer of technical and insulation materials for the upstream oil and gas industry – was announced as joint winner of the National Smart Product Award at this year’s EEF/Aldermore Future Manufacturing Awards.

Commenting for Advanced Insulation, Global business development manager Philip Watson says: “This year’s Smart Product Award is a real boost for the company. The Smart Product Awards recognise companies that have most successfully designed and delivered new products to market within the last three years, by delivering innovation in manufacturing as a competitive edge. Advanced Insulation won the regional and national awards for its ContraFlame® MS400 lightweight under-deck protection system for offshore oil platforms; and was up against stiff competition from businesses across the United Kingdom.

The judges were won over not only by Advanced Insulation’s end-product, but with the commitment, attention-to-detail and determination demonstrated throughout the process of bringing it to market. The company analysed and understood market needs to create a safer, lighter and more durable insulation technology that has become a commercial success and can be used in a number of markets.

“Advanced Insulation’s ContraFlame ® MS400 is a robust lightweight under-deck insulation system for offshore oil platforms that uses the company’s patented phenolic-based material technology. It is simple to install, offers significant weight savings (up to 100x) compared to traditional systems and can achieve savings up to £10 million per platform. Additionally, the new insulation system benefits from the company’s compression moulding capability and achieves a 60-minute hydrocarbon fire rating for each 107mm thick panel.” says Philip.
