Leeds, UK – Industrial lubricant specialistQ8Oils has strengthened its UK-based sales team with the appointment of Scott Shields as area sales manager for the metal manufacturing sector in Scotland. A sales, marketing and recruitment professional in the manufacturing and high-technology sectors for over 19 years, Scott joins the company with a proven track record in the oil and gas sector, including high-level divisional and managerial roles.

Commenting on his new position, Scott believes that his experience has prepared him for this position and that capitalising on skills such as new account development through industry contacts and networking, will help him make a positive contribution to the Q8Oils sales team. “I have built strong working relationships that have lasted for a number of years thanks to working closely with clients to help satisfy their requirements by identifying the appropriate product or service at a mutually-beneficial cost.” says Scott.

Scott will be responsible for developing and retaining new and existing accounts and ensuring that agreed financial volume targets are achieved.

Commenting for Q8Oils, direct sales manager Jeremy Dineen says: “Scott has a real understanding of the territory both geographically and financially, which is imperative to maximise profitability within the dedicated area. With the plans we have in place for the short- to medium-term future, Scott’s broad experience in the oil and gas sector levels will provide him and us with real opportunities.”

Scott’s appointment follows a recent restructuring of Q8Oils’ UK operations, which has allowed the company to further expand its business and provide a long term commitment to the manufacturing, automotive and energy sectors.

Farnborough. 9-11 February 2016. Stand T134.

Q8Oils will be using its stand at Southern Manufacturing 2016 to promote its many recently-launched products and service-led initiatives available for the UK market.

Since Q8 Brunel was launched in early 2015, Q8Oils has continued development of its revolutionary water-soluble machining and grinding fluid and can now offer ten grades in the range that have been developed to out-perform all other fluids. All grades are suitable for use in hard or soft water, with ultra low foaming properties and are ideal for high-speed machining applications and the demanding fluid delivery pressures found on modern machine tools. The range is also designed to be fully-compliant with the latest European industry legislation.

Another product being promoted at the show is Q8 Berlioz, a range of soluble cutting and grinding fluids developed to be tolerant to both hard and soft water and free of formaldehyde, chlorine and secondary amines. Each of the six grades in the range has been specifically formulated for the light- to heavy-duty machining of numerous ferrous and non-ferrous metals and alloys on CNC machines, machining centres, flexible manufacturing systems and all centralised systems.

With the company so confident in its new grades and existing portfolio of neat and soluble cutting fluids, Q8Oils will continue to promote its ‘Challenge’ initiative which, launched in early 2015, offers new customers the opportunity to trial Q8 metal working fluids in their own machine shopson a payment-by-results basis.

Another service-led initiative being promoted is QCare, a network-enabled, tablet-based system with a bespoke ‘app’ that enables Q8Oils field service technicians (FSTs) to monitor fluids, complete audits and deliver results while still on site.

For further information on Q8 Brunel and Q8 Berlioz, or if you are interested in taking The Challenge, visit Q8Oils where its team can determine which Q8 metal working fluid is right for your application.

Q8Oils has announced a reorganisation of its European lubricants manufacturing following the recent completion of a £100 million investment to upgrade its European blending plant in Antwerp. Having doubled capacity at its Antwerp plant, which is now capable of producing 250 million litres of blended product a year, Q8Oils has moved its UK blending operations to Antwerp and is investing in a new purpose-built UK headquarters in Leeds.

Explaining the changes, UK managing director Andy Dixon stresses that this is a positive step for the UK and that Q8Oils is now focusing on expanding its business in the UK market. “This move is part of our plans for a long term commitment to the manufacturing, automotive and energy sectors and the restructuring includes new headquarters in Leeds that opened on 3rd July.”

Andy also confirms that Q8Oils has announced the appointment of new business partners, IBL Bulk Liquids, Reynolds Logistics, Potters Logistics and Clarke Transport, to manage the company’s bulk storage and pack operations in the UK.

All new UK distribution partners are established experts in packaging and distribution; and the Q8 products delivered will be the same as those already sold in the UK, with products being processed in Antwerp and delivered to Q8Oils’ UK partners.

From its operations on the River Hull and in the Port of Hull, IBL Bulk Liquids will provide Q8Oils with services and facilities for the handling and storage of bulk liquids. They are perfectly located to handle product imports from Q8Oils in Europe and its sites offer excellent connections to the UK road and rail networks. IBL Bulk Liquids offer 120 storage tanks, with a total capacity of around 34,500 cubic metres and handling facilities for road tankers and tank containers.

Operating throughout the UK, Reynolds Logistics provides metered deliveries of lubricants and, using the markets’ largest operational fleet of metered tankers and IBC vehicles based in more than six strategic locations, they are well placed to provide Q8Oils with a fast and efficient delivery service.

Potters Logistics maintains a centrally-managed fleet of articulated and rigid vehicles and will provide Q8Oils with a flexible, cost-effective road freight and transport logistics distribution service from its six distribution centres and rail freight terminals.

Finally, family owned and operated Clarke Transport uses state-of-the-art technology, machinery and vehicles to ensure that the Q8Oils service remains ahead of the field. Based on old-fashioned values of safety, excellent customer service, integrity and reliability, Clarke Transport specialises in transporting sensitive goods for some of the world’s leading manufacturers of chemicals.

Andy Dixon states: “The important message to Q8Oils’ loyal UK customers is longevity and optimisation and, through better utilisation of European assets, the UK business is already creating long-term commitments, including new area sales manager appointments and recently signed major contracts, all of which demonstrate an on-going commitment to the UK.”

Some of the rationalising of the UK business has been influenced through experience gained during a similarly successful merger recently completed by Q8Oils in Scandinavia. Two years ago the expanded Antwerp plant began supplying product to the region and the service proved so successful that Q8Oils was able to merge operations in Denmark and Sweden and supply the entire Scandinavian customer base from there. The move means that Q8Oils is now the largest oil company in Scandinavia and the experienced gained has provided a successful model that has been a useful guide to the UK team.

Q8Oils has appointed Andy Walker, who joins the automotive team as area sales manager for the South of England. Andy has a proven 30-year successful track record in the industry with experience in passenger cars, commercial vehicles, automotive refinishing systems, vehicle components and on board telemetry systems.

Andy has operated throughout the UK & Ireland, opening up new automotive sector opportunities for premium brands such as BMW, Volvo, Renault and ROSPA.

With a diverse lubricant portfolio featuring over 1,000 product/pack options available in the UK, Andy’s role is to focus primarily on the sale of passenger car and heavy-duty diesel engine oils and other related lubricant grades through franchised dealers and specialists in the South of England. He will be prospecting for new business whilst retaining existing customers to ensure that agreed financial and volume targets are achieved. Working closely with technical and sales colleagues in the UK, Andy will also be responsible for making relevant and optimal product recommendations to optimise our profitability in the automotive sector.

“My experience has prepared me for this position and I’m confident that capitalising on skills such as understanding customer needs and developing existing business through industry contacts and reputation, will help to make a positive contribution to Q8Oils.” says Andy.

Q8Oils direct sales manager Jeremy Dineen says: “With the plans we have in place for the immediate future, Andy’s broad and senior level experience in the automotive industry will provide him with real opportunities to use his skills.”

Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle. 8-9 July. Stand A7

Q8Oils will be using its stand at ME North East to promote ‘The Challenge’ – the company’s recently launched metal working fluid initiative for machine shop owners and operators – which offers new customers the opportunity to trial soluble and neat metal cutting fluids in their machine shops.

Commenting for Q8Oils, direct sales manager Jeremy Dineen says: “The Challenge was launched because we are so confident that customers will find a Q8 metal working fluid that is ideal for their processes and applications, and saves them money.”

Q8Oils is proud that it offers one of the most comprehensive portfolios of neat and soluble cutting fluids in the UK and is convinced that, by offering a payment-by-results trial, The Challenge will prove the benefits of Q8 metal working fluids to manufacturers.

After first establishing clear, mutually-agreed objectives, Q8Oils will set up the trial and then monitor on-going performance of the lubricant to ensure that it, and the machine, are operating at peak performance. A comprehensive report on the results is presented during the trial.

As well as performance requirements, Q8Oils also recognises its customers’ commercial needs, explains Jeremy. “By offering optimum, high and extreme performance products, we can help customers balance criteria, such as surface finish, the severity of the working environment and productivity, against cost.”

Q8Oils will also be using its stand to promote the recently launched Q8 Brunel, its latest revolution in water-soluble machining and grinding fluids. The Q8 Brunel range has been developed to out-perform all other fluids and has already been successfully tried and tested with manufacturers across Europe where, for example, Q8 Brunel XF 343 has fulfilled and passed the criteria for Snecma Safran 455-201-0-00-B aerospace approval.

Q8 Brunel is designed to be fully compliant with latest European industry legislation resulting in products that are free from boron, boric acid, chlorinated paraffin, secondary amine, formaldehyde releasing biocides, nitrites, cresols and phenols.

“Following extensive research and both laboratory and field-trial testing, we have reinvented the way in which the industry approaches soluble MWF chemistry by developing a completely new approach that focuses on three pillars – product performance, environmental protection and operator health,” says Jeremy.

All grades are suitable for use in hard or soft water, with ultra low foaming properties. Q8 Brunel metal working fluids are ideally suited for high speed machining applications and demanding fluid delivery pressures found on modern machine tools. Subject to customer requirements, significant improvements of tool life and surface finish are achievable.

For further information on the new Q8 Brunel range, or if you are interested in taking The Challenge, visit the Q8Oils stand where our team can help determine which metal working fluid from Q8Oils’ portfolio of six product families – Q8 Brunel, Q8 Berlioz, Q8 Baroni, Q8 Beethoven, Q8 Bach and Q8 Brahms – is right for your application.

Snecma Safran is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of engines for civil and military aircraft applications; and a specialist designer and manufacturer of rocket engines for launch vehicle and satellites.

Commenting for Q8Oils, product manager for metal manufacturing Stuart Duff says: “This is a significant achievement for Q8 Brunel XF 343; and complements the success we are delivering with the whole range of Q8 Brunel soluble metal working products.”

Independent qualification testing of Q8 Brunel XF 343 was carried by the Bureau Veritas Laborotoires and included stress corrosion tests on titanium alloy, hot corrosion testing for aluminium and nickel alloys and loss of mass tests for aluminium alloy.

The approval from Snecma Safran extends the opportunities for the Q8 Brunel range beyond Europe and into North Africa, China, USA and Mexico. The approval also confirms the capability of Q8 Brunel XF 343 and opens other opportunities within the Global aerospace sector.

Q8 Brunel XF 343 is designed for milling, turning, drilling/deep-hole drilling, threading, reaming and broaching operations. It has been developed specifically for the aerospace sector for the machining of aerospace aluminium alloys including 7000 series, titanium alloys, Inconel and copper alloys.
Stuart goes on to say that this new Q8 Brunel range is so advanced that it has the potential to reduce the operating costs for every customer. “With the introduction of Q8 Brunel, we have reinvented the way that the industry approaches soluble metal working fluid chemistry by developing a completely new approach that focuses on three key customer requirements – product performance, environmental protection and operator health.”

All Q8 Brunel grades comply with TRGS 611 and are suitable for use in hard and soft water where they display low foaming properties. They are ideal for high speed machining applications and the demanding fluid delivery pressures found on modern machine tools; and it is here where significant tool life improvements are achievable.

In addition, all Q8 Brunel grades are suitable for use in hard or soft water with ultra-low foaming properties, and are ideally suited for high speed machining applications and the demanding fluid delivery pressures found on modern machine tools.
The expansion of Q8Oils’ recently launched engine oil lubricants for stationary gas engines is continuing with the introduction of Q8 Mahler G5 and Q8 Mahler GR5.

The formulation technology of the Q8 Mahler range has been successfully proven across a variety of engines for over 20 years and globally, there are an estimated 3,750 engines filled with Q8 Mahler and running for 15 million hours, every year.

Commenting for Q8Oils, energy specialist Tony O’Keeffe says: “Customers can be assured that Q8 Mahler G will help reduce operating costs by reducing oil consumption and extending drain intervals.”

For one MWM engine customer, switching to Q8 Mahler G5 reduced its maintenance costs by 8.7%. For another customer operating two GE Jenbacher engines, drain intervals were extended by 54% following a switch to Q8 Mahler G10 from a competitor’s oil.

Q8 Mahler G5 is a medium ash oil for natural gas applications operating under mild to severe conditions. Developed with a low deposit tendency and high resistance against pre-ignition or knocking, this latest oil is ideal for high-pressure engines operating at 22bar or above and is also suitable for those with a lower BMEP. To reduce lubricant inventory, it can also be used to lubricate reciprocating compressors where natural gas is compressed but does not exceed pressures of 10,000kPa.

Benefits include long service life thanks to its high resistance to oxidation and nitration; protection against valve seat recession; excellent acid neutralising capacities; and protection against rust and corrosion.

These benefits are proven in extensive field trial tests, with GE officially approving the lubricant for use on its GE Jenbacher 2, 3, 4 (type B) and 6 (type C & E) series gas engines, operating on numerous fuel classes or catalysts. It has also recently been approved for GE Jenbacher type 6 series high pressure engines with steel pistons (from version – F) in fuel Class A; and has been approved by Caterpillar Energy Solutions for its CG132, CG170 and CG260 engines operating on all gas types; and Deutz AG for its 913, 914 and 2015 series engines.

Q8 Mahler G5 also exceeds the requirements of numerous equipment manufacturers and is recommended for use in GE Waukesha, Guascor Power, MAN Truck & Bus, MTU Onsite Energy, Wärtsilä, Perkins, Liebherr, 2G and Cummins engines.

Also introduced is Q8 Mahler GR5, a high-performance stationary gas engine oil developed for operation under mild to severe conditions and blended using a premium, hydrocracked (synthetic) base oil.

Approved by Rolls-Royce Bergen for use on its B Series engines, Q8 Mahler GR5 satisfies the demands for lower emissions and higher efficiencies in today’s gas engines, where this more oxidation-stable engine oil is capable of controlling liner cleanliness and oil consumption for increased liner and piston ring temperatures. In addition, it exceeds the requirements of a number of OEMs and is recommended for use by GE Waukesha, GE Jenbacher, Caterpillar Energy Solutions, Deutz, Guascor Power, MAN Truck & Bus, MTU Onsite Energy, Perkins, Liebherr, 2G and Cummins.

Benefits include low deposit tendency; acid neutralising capacities; and an extended service life thanks to its high oxidation resistance and synthetic-based formulation. Q8 Mahler GR5 also offers enhanced lubricity and solubility properties to provide improved engine wear protection, resistance to sludge formation and upgraded detergency properties to provide cleaner engine components. It also delivers excellent resistance against pre-ignition and nitration; as well protection against rust, corrosion and valve seat recession.

High quality customer support for the Q8 Mahler range includes technical backup and delivery ex-works from Q8Oils in Leeds to customer sites throughout the UK. A used oil analysis service (Q8 QUOTA) also enables customers to regularly analyse oil condition to help prevent engine damage.

Finally, Q8Oils is so confident in the performance of its range of gas engine oils that it is challenging owners and operators to provide access to an engine operating under the most severe conditions; and it will prove the benefits of lubricating the engine with its Q8 range.

Leading industrial and engineering solutions specialist Q8Oils has launched ‘The Challenge’, the company’s latest metal working fluid initiative for machine shop owners and operators offering new customers the opportunity to trial soluble and neat metal working fluids in their own machine shops.

Commenting for Q8Oils, direct sales manager Jeremy Dineen says: “We have launched The Challenge because we are so confident that customers will find a Q8Oils metal working fluid that is ideal for their processes and applications, and saves them money.”

Q8Oils is proud that it offers one of the most comprehensive portfolios of neat and soluble cutting fluids in the UK and is convinced that, by offering a payment-by-results trial, The Challenge will prove the benefits of Q8Oils metal working fluids to UK manufacturers.

After first establishing clear, mutually-agreed objectives, Q8Oils will set up the trial and then monitor on-going performance of the lubricant to ensure that it, and the machine, are operating at peak performance. A comprehensive report on the results is presented at regular intervals during the trial and, at the end of The Challenge.

As well as performance requirements, Q8Oils also recognises its customers’ commercial needs, explains Jeremy. “By offering optimum, high, and extreme performance products, we can help customers balance criteria, such as surface finish, the severity of the working environment and productivity, against cost.”

If you are interested in taking part in ‘The Challenge’, please contact Q8Oils who will start the process by determining which metal working fluid from the portfolio of six product families, Q8 Brunel, Q8 Berlioz, Q8 Baroni, Q8 Beethoven, Q8 Bach and Q8 Brahms, is right for the application.

The Car People, a fast growing used car dealership in the North of England, was established in 2000 and now boasts three showrooms in Sheffield, Wakefield and Manchester. The company aims to make car buying an enjoyable and memorable experience, and with over 50% of sales coming from repeat customers and recommendations the system is obviously working. In addition, each of its showrooms also has its own workshop equipped with nine service ramps and a total of 40 service technicians across the three businesses.

Since opening in 2000 The Car People’s three workshops have also maintained a loyal relationship with Q8Oils for their supply of engine oils and associated passenger car lubricants.

As The Car People’s spokesman Jonathan Allbones explains, the bulk of the supply they receive are Q8 Formula Special G Long Life and Q8 Formula Techno FE. Other products are supplied for older vehicles and for the new Ford Eco Boost engines. When special vehicles come into stock, other products are ordered as required. “Most vehicle manufactures have specific oil requirements, so we take other engine oils from Q8Oils as we need them.” Says Jonathan.

The Car People have been with Q8Oils since the company was formed in 2000 and efficiency has always been the main objective of the Q8Oils service, because the business is high volume. The Car People’s service department needs to be sure that the stock they order is always replenished in good time and, as Jonathan explains, they have never had an issue with that.

Commenting on its original decision, Jonathan says: “Initially The Car People’s workshop business was drawn to Q8Oils because the company had the best combination of high quality products, very good service levels and competitive prices, and they can deliver the specialist oils for all types of different engines. Of course we looked at other lubricant suppliers but Q8Oils ticked all the boxes, and in the end the decision was easy.

“Our relationship with Q8Oils provides the lubricants we need to service the high volume of vehicles we handle. They have also been a very reliable supplier and these are the reasons we have stayed loyal for almost fifteen years.”
