Farnborough. 9-11 February 2016. Stand T134.
Q8Oils will be using its stand at Southern Manufacturing 2016 to promote its many recently-launched products and service-led initiatives available for the UK market.
Since Q8 Brunel was launched in early 2015, Q8Oils has continued development of its revolutionary water-soluble machining and grinding fluid and can now offer ten grades in the range that have been developed to out-perform all other fluids. All grades are suitable for use in hard or soft water, with ultra low foaming properties and are ideal for high-speed machining applications and the demanding fluid delivery pressures found on modern machine tools. The range is also designed to be fully-compliant with the latest European industry legislation.
Another product being promoted at the show is Q8 Berlioz, a range of soluble cutting and grinding fluids developed to be tolerant to both hard and soft water and free of formaldehyde, chlorine and secondary amines. Each of the six grades in the range has been specifically formulated for the light- to heavy-duty machining of numerous ferrous and non-ferrous metals and alloys on CNC machines, machining centres, flexible manufacturing systems and all centralised systems.
With the company so confident in its new grades and existing portfolio of neat and soluble cutting fluids, Q8Oils will continue to promote its ‘Challenge’ initiative which, launched in early 2015, offers new customers the opportunity to trial Q8 metal working fluids in their own machine shopson a payment-by-results basis.
Another service-led initiative being promoted is QCare, a network-enabled, tablet-based system with a bespoke ‘app’ that enables Q8Oils field service technicians (FSTs) to monitor fluids, complete audits and deliver results while still on site.

Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle. 8-9 July. Stand A7
Q8Oils will be using its stand at ME North East to promote ‘The Challenge’ – the company’s recently launched metal working fluid initiative for machine shop owners and operators – which offers new customers the opportunity to trial soluble and neat metal cutting fluids in their machine shops.
Commenting for Q8Oils, direct sales manager Jeremy Dineen says: “The Challenge was launched because we are so confident that customers will find a Q8 metal working fluid that is ideal for their processes and applications, and saves them money.”
Q8Oils is proud that it offers one of the most comprehensive portfolios of neat and soluble cutting fluids in the UK and is convinced that, by offering a payment-by-results trial, The Challenge will prove the benefits of Q8 metal working fluids to manufacturers.
After first establishing clear, mutually-agreed objectives, Q8Oils will set up the trial and then monitor on-going performance of the lubricant to ensure that it, and the machine, are operating at peak performance. A comprehensive report on the results is presented during the trial.
As well as performance requirements, Q8Oils also recognises its customers’ commercial needs, explains Jeremy. “By offering optimum, high and extreme performance products, we can help customers balance criteria, such as surface finish, the severity of the working environment and productivity, against cost.”
Q8Oils will also be using its stand to promote the recently launched Q8 Brunel, its latest revolution in water-soluble machining and grinding fluids. The Q8 Brunel range has been developed to out-perform all other fluids and has already been successfully tried and tested with manufacturers across Europe where, for example, Q8 Brunel XF 343 has fulfilled and passed the criteria for Snecma Safran 455-201-0-00-B aerospace approval.
Q8 Brunel is designed to be fully compliant with latest European industry legislation resulting in products that are free from boron, boric acid, chlorinated paraffin, secondary amine, formaldehyde releasing biocides, nitrites, cresols and phenols.
“Following extensive research and both laboratory and field-trial testing, we have reinvented the way in which the industry approaches soluble MWF chemistry by developing a completely new approach that focuses on three pillars – product performance, environmental protection and operator health,” says Jeremy.
All grades are suitable for use in hard or soft water, with ultra low foaming properties. Q8 Brunel metal working fluids are ideally suited for high speed machining applications and demanding fluid delivery pressures found on modern machine tools. Subject to customer requirements, significant improvements of tool life and surface finish are achievable.
For further information on the new Q8 Brunel range, or if you are interested in taking The Challenge, visit the Q8Oils stand where our team can help determine which metal working fluid from Q8Oils’ portfolio of six product families – Q8 Brunel, Q8 Berlioz, Q8 Baroni, Q8 Beethoven, Q8 Bach and Q8 Brahms – is right for your application.
Q8 Baroni XGPH from Q8Oils is a low-foaming, hard-water-stable cutting fluid suitable for multi-purpose machining.
Designed for use in CNC machines, flexible manufacturing and centralised systems and modern, high-flow machining centres Q8 Baroni XGPH can be used on a wide range of difficult to machine materials including cast iron, stainless steel, high-tensile steel, yellow metals, aluminium alloys and titanium.
This semi-synthetic, soluble metalworking fluid contains synthetic lubricity enhancers and is formulated to keep machines extremely clean throughout the life of the coolant and provide outstanding rust and corrosion protection. When mixed with water, its emulsion is highly stable, long lasting and requires little or no maintenance. Its bio-stable properties means that it does not degrade or produce bad odours and provides a long sump life, which can significantly reduce costs by minimising the frequency of coolant clean out, replenishment and addition of tank-side ancillary products.
To comply with your local legislation, waste treatment and environmental requirements, Q8 Baroni XGPH does not contain added chlorine, sulphur, creosols, phenols or nitrites.

Q8Oils is continuing its development of soluble cutting fluids with the launch of Q8 Baroni XHS, a unique, high-performance, water-based cutting fluid that has been designed for general machining applications including deep hole drilling, boring, skiving and roller burnishing.
Being chlorine- and sulphur-free, Q8 Baroni XHS requires no environmental labelling and its excellent bio-stability provides long sump life and reduced maintenance costs. Formulated with unique water-soluble lubricity additives means that the use of Q8 Baroni XHS is not limited by water quality; and its low foaming properties also helps to minimise spillages and does not result in loss of machine pressure. The use of these latest high-performance lubricity additives also ensures excellent surface finish and extended tool life.
Commenting for Q8Oils, UK Sales Manager Mick Doxford says: “As a fully-synthetic metalworking fluid, Q8 Baroni XHS benefits from long-term stability and full tramp oil rejection and, thanks to its excellent lubricity properties, is suitable for low- to heavy-duty machining of ferrous alloys, stainless steel, high tensile steel, Inconel and other high-specification alloys.”

Q8Oils has extended its range of neat cutting fluids with the introduction of Q8 Bach AHM, a medium viscosity, heavy-duty machining fluid featuring a powerful active EP package and heavy lubricity agent.
The EP additive package is active at all temperatures, which means that an excellent finish can be achieved through a full range of speeds and feeds – from the heaviest removal of stock, down to finishing with light cuts. In addition, the heavy lubricity agent allows maximum contact of the fluid with the work piece at all times, helping to eliminate judder and poor finish when using exceptionally large cuts and high feed rates. The highly-regarded Q8 mist-reducing additive package is also incorporated into the formulation.
Q8 Bach AHM has been specially formulated for general duty cutting, milling, thread grinding, deep-hole and gun drilling; as well as broaching operations using non-ferrous materials. However, the new fluid can also be used to machine extremely demanding steel alloys, as the EP additive package provides boundary lubrication at the vital tool tip/chip interface.
As Q8Oils’ Mick Doxford explains: “This level of lubrication helps prevent the build-up of edge and chip welding, as well as providing tangible cost savings by dramatically reducing tool wear and the energy consumption of the machine.”
Q8 Bach AHM delivers excellent performance with all steels including high-tensile, high-alloy steels, and stainless, but is not suitable for use with non-ferrous metals due to the active EP package. Q8 Bach AHM is particularly recommended for use in machine shops where uncontrolled mist can affect the health of machine operators and settle in the working environment, creating odours and an unhealthy atmosphere.
