Bristol, UK - Tuesday, 08 October 2013 - Heat transfer specialist Fulton celebrated its move to a new £3.5 million, 43,000 sq. ft. Bristol-based headquarters recently and was joined by over 60 customers, suppliers and dignitaries, including US-based owners Ronald and Bram Palm and Honorary President of the Combustion Engineers Association (CEA) – and lover of all things steam – Pete Waterman. In his speech, Pete Waterman welcomed Fulton’s decision to bring the manufacturing of its larger boiler pressure vessels for UK and Export markets from Fulton’s facility in China to Bristol, at a time when many manufacturers are doing the opposite. Despite the many local, national and international obstacles Fulton faced, he also praised the company for maintaining its presence in Bristol and protecting the jobs of local people. Guests were given guided-tours of Fulton’s new facility and a demonstration of its state-of-the-art plasma cutter and, following speeches from Bram Palm and Pete Waterman, the company was presented with a commemorative plaque from the CEA. Commenting on the move, Fulton UK’s managing director Paul Richards says: “The move to the new facility has helped us to manage current demand and plan for the future. Being a much larger facility, it has also helped to boost morale amongst the Fulton team as the offices and manufacturing areas are lighter, brighter and a nicer environment in which to work.” Fulton’s new UK headquarters creates a centre of excellence for the company’s heat transfer products and provides comprehensive customer support, from applications advice and sales processing, through to delivery. Because Fulton stayed within the Bristol area and hasn’t lost a single employee because of the relocation, the same experienced teams are available to help with enquiries for the company’s range of thermal fluid, fuel-fired and electric steam boilers, hot water boilers and ancillary products. The site also accommodates new training and seminar facilities created to enable qualified staff to keep customers up-to-date with the latest products and applications; and host the company’s recently announced City & Guild certified training courses, which offer a mix of theoretical and practical operational assignments. Following its recent announcement on the sponsorship of 12-year-old junior Kart racer Tom Wood, leading oil and lubricant manufacturer Q8Oils is delighted to announce his recent successes during round two of the Super One British Championship at Rowrah.
Tom qualified 3rd in his group and 4th in the heats on Saturday 4th May. During the second heat stage Tom started 4th on the grid and maintained this position going into the first corner and throughout much of the dry race. Then, by carefully observing the two leading karts and avoiding a collision between them, Tom went on to win the race.
On the Sunday – with two races on a very wet day – Tom started Final 1 in 9th position on the grid and, following an amazing start, made it into 3rd position after just a few corners. For the remainder of the race Tom battled with other competitors for 3rd and 4th places and, in the closing stages, won the race following an outstanding manoeuvre with the leaders on the last lap.
Starting Final 2 in pole position Tom had a great start and, with his two team-mates close behind him, pulled away from the rest of the field. A 15-minute battle for the lead then followed and, following a near spin, Tom lost the lead and settled for 3rd place.
Tom, who hails from Castle Donington, races for the Aim Motorsport Cadet team. His recent Karting successes include winning the 2012 Trent Valley Kart Club Championship, which put his name on the same trophy as his hero, World Formula One Champion Lewis Hamilton, and the highest placed Young Driver in the 2013 National Cadet Kart Championship.

As part of its 2014 Corporate Social Responsibility programme, employees from Leeds-based Q8Oils completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Walk on 5th April and raised money and awareness for Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA), an independent charity providing a life saving, rapid response emergency service to over five million people across Yorkshire.
Twelve Q8Oils employees completed the 25-mile walk and successfully raised over £1300. It was a punishing achievement with many of those taking part overcoming painful blisters and tired muscles to come through and complete all three peaks in 12 hours.
There were a few aching bodies at work on the Monday morning following the walk – especially for those having to endure a long day on the Q8Oils stand at MACH 2014 – but the feelings of achievement by those who finished more than made up for a few days of aches and pains!
Commenting, Naomi Holden says: “The willpower of everybody who took part on the day was immense and the team spirit and commitment shown to raise such a sum of money for YAA was amazing.”
It’s not too late to make a donation and anyone wishing to contribute to the Q8Oils Three Peaks Challenge can do so at www.justgiving.com/q8oils3peaks.

Fulton Limited (www.fulton.co.uk)
The Fulton name has been synonymous with steam since the company first introduced the vertical tubeless steam boiler in 1949 and Fulton was established in Bristol in 1966. Fulton is still one of the world’s leading manufacturers, producing an unrivalled range of multi-fuel steam boilers. But increasingly these are ordered by customers as part of bespoke turnkey systems designed to meet exacting specifications.
Today Fulton Limited is an important design and manufacturing base in Fulton’s global network that also includes production facilities in the USA and China. The company’s UK facility makes it possible to manufacture products more efficiently and assemble completed units for whenever and wherever they are needed throughout the UK and in export markets.
Once just a steam boiler manufacturer, Fulton now specialises in ready-to-ship skid mounted and fully packaged boiler plant rooms to meet the current demand for off-site fabrication. The company puts great emphasis in providing sales and application advice and a full commissioning and after sales service to a growing customer base in hospital and healthcare facilities, food and beverage processing, laundries and other applications.
Design and manufacturing resources are shared and coordinated around the world, but no matter where your product originates, it will always be produced to the highest quality in a facility that is wholly owned and managed by the Fulton Group, which remains a privately owned family business.
Fulton’s heating and hot water systems can be delivered as fully prefabricated plant rooms or complete skid-mounted units, built to fit a prepared location and connect direct to your services.
