Curtiss-Wright’s Industrial division today announced it has launched the WM-554, a compact, lightweight and cost-effective electronic suspended pedal from the Corporation’s brand family of Williams Controls.
Featuring a non-contact, Hall-effect sensor that can be factory-programmed for dual analog output (APS), the WM-554 suspended pedal provides smooth driver operation and is available with a standard pedal travel of 19 degrees. The WM-554’s lever arm and mounting bracket can be customized to assist installation and optimize driver ergonomics in the vehicle cab environment.

The WM-554 launches with a 5Vdc supply voltage, including electronics that are fully compliant with industry-standard electro-magnetic emission regulations (SAE J1113).
The new pedal assembly uses a corrosion resistant, coated steel mounting bracket and high-strength composite plastics for the body and pedal arm. This creates a highly-ruggedized and lightweight construction, making the WM-554 ideal for all industrial and commercial on- and off-highway vehicle applications, including medium-duty trucks and vans, buses, recreational ATV’s, military and construction vehicles.

With an 8mm low-profile sensor body and a small footprint, this fully-encapsulated, IP68/IP69K-rated sensor offers exceptional levels of performance against water, dust, shock, vibration and temperature. The NRH300DP is ideal for use by OEMs of on- and off-highway vehicles that are destined for use in challenging environments, and as a cost-effective solution for medium volume applications where a select number of options or degree of customization may be required.

Additonal features include an innovative circuit design that allows the rotary position sensor to be powered from a regulated 5V supply or a varying voltage – such as a vehicle’s battery – in the range of 9 to 30V. Versatile, factory-programmable electronics can also be easily set to one of two analog voltage output ranges (0.5-4.5V or 0.2-4.8V) or one of three PWM frequencies.
The NRH300DP uses proven, wear-free Hall-effect sensing technology and replaces the NRH280DP for new applications. The new design features a number of magnet arrangement options, and includes an over-molded magnet carrier that simplifies the interfacing of the magnet and sensor during installation. As part of a move to enhance its UK sales operations, heat transfer specialist Fulton has appointed Andrew Robinson as national business development manager and restructured its existing territories.
Andrew Robinson joins Fulton with significant experience in the industry, having worked for numerous steam specialists including Spirax Sarco, Byworth and, more recently, Torishima. He will be responsible for driving new sales of Fulton’s steam, hot water and thermal oil products and will take overall responsibility for many of the company’s larger heat transfer projects.

UK-based Advanced Insulation – a leading manufacturer of technical coatings, specialised passive fire protection systems and thermal insulation materials for the upstream oil and gas industry – has moved its Korea-based manufacturing operation to a larger facility in Sinpyeong-dong.
Commenting for Advanced Insulation Korea, General Manager Andrew Court says: “Following significant growth and expected demand from both Korean Shipyards and local EPC contracts for our ContraFlex® range of flexible passive fire insulation jackets, it was apparent that the existing facility in Hwajeon-dong was no longer suitable for the increased manufacturing requirements in Korea.”

Robust JC1200 single-axis joystick has a long operating life
Curtiss-Wright Corporation today announced its Industrial division has launched the JC1200, a next-generation, cost-effective paddle joystick from the Corporation’s brand family of Penny & Giles.
By using a long-life bearing system and non-contacting Hall-effect sensing technology, the JC1200 has achieved a long operating life of 25 million cycles while providing functionality that is smooth and easy to operate.
Key features of the JC1200 include:
- An under-panel depth of 9mm, requiring minimal installation space
- A spring-loaded return-to-center or return-to-end paddle movement
- Integrated panel seal and IP67 protection – suitable for outside use
- A choice of nine colored paddle ‘Tabs’, which can be factory fitted or supplied separately and added as part of the final customer installation process
The JC1200 launches with a 5Vdc supply voltage and the option for factory-programmable electronics configured to one of two analog voltage output ranges (0.5-4.5V or 1.0-4.0V). The joystick also provides safety functionality via dual outputs, which can be set to positive or negative ramps, or a combination of both. This offers system designers the option to compare the output signals for error checking.
The JC1200 paddle joystick builds on the success of the potentiometric-based JC120 and is ideal for use in control panels and armrests found in industrial trucks, agricultural equipment and construction machinery, where cost-effective, long-life operator controls are essential.
